What is one of the most important steps to Happiness? The answer could transform you. We all have moments of Happiness, which usually accompany peacefulness and bliss. Individuals who feel a deep sense of gratitude in their life may have a happier life than someone who is always complaining.
Only You are Responsible for Your Happiness
It’s like the Universe gave us a wondrous gift to keep for as long as we want. The sensation surrounds deep in our hearts. If only we could stay there forever though life moves on and other emotions are felt.
Is Happiness, something I consciously endeavoured to be or did it just miraculously come to me?
People who have deep gratitude for life experience happiness more often, and this could very well be one of the most important steps to Happiness.
You Don’t Have to Own a Car or a Big House to Be Happy.
You don’t even have to have a lot of money! Most happy individuals are happy because they are grateful for all that they have. To experience a good life for them is all that matters.
So… Be grateful for all that You have is a promise you make to yourself.
OR Maybe you are one of the fortunate people who are sentiently happy.
Furthermore and really think about this. If you are the type of person who feels a deep sense of gratitude you are probably a lot happier than someone who complains all the time.
Psychologists believe that not only do individuals overall happiness increase with gratitude but it is also linked to many positive behaviours, when coping with problems in relationships, health, and decision making.
Happiness Increases with gratitude.
Dr. Robert A. Emmons of the University of California, Davis, and Dr. Michael E. McCullough of the University of Miami, has done research studies on gratitude. In one study, they asked all participants to write a few sentences each week, focusing on particular topics.
The first group wrote about things they were grateful for the second group wrote about things that irritated them, and the last group wrote about positive or negative events they remembered in their life. Interestingly, after ten weeks, the result showed the individuals who wrote on gratitude were much more optimistic.
Gratitude had made them feel better about their lives as well as the participants were more active and had fewer visits to their doctor compared to the individuals who fixated on annoyances.
Although research does not draw a fine line, the evidence to gratitude in relation to Happiness in most studies published seems to support the connection between gratitude and an individual’s well-being.
But if your life is good, you gravitate to people with the same graciousness and so live a more balanced and happy life. True Happiness in life comes when you appreciate all that you have with an amazing feeling of gratitude. It is unconscious gratitude without any intention of even trying.
Happiness Can Be Split Into Two Portions.
One portion, feeling happy in the moment and the second portion, feeling happy overall, in your life. We all have fleeting moments of Happiness, even when life is less than desirable.
If you live in an undesirable or unhappy situation, you could have fleeting moments of Happiness even when life is less than desirable. How do you find your Happiness when you are unhappy?
If You Are Unhappy
If you can’t see a life of Happiness, how do you find your Happiness? This is such a hard place to be, and I am quite sure this is the time when one gets on your knees and prays. Believe me, I have been there, and it is not a pretty place.
I believe when you go to bed each night with gratitude in your heart for all that you hold dear, and you wake up with that same feeling, you will eventually (over time)experience a truly happy life. I hope you can find inspiration in this because it is “one of the most important steps to happiness”.
So make it your goal and Set an Intention to find some gratitude in your surrounding life.
It Is Tough When Life Happens
Just when you start to feel happy, and you’re holding the bull by the horns, something terrible happens, and you’ve lost it again. Often it takes a lot to pull you out of the darkness to find the gratitude once again. In those moments of darkness, there is a pain.
If you can at least accept that it is there and see a way to what you hold dear, this is graciousness. Open your heart, find it in your heart and be grateful, and your life will start moving in the right direction.
If you can accept that unhappiness is your present state, this is a good place to start. Then open your heart to all that you hold dear even if it is the smallest thing and the graciousness that you feel will transform your life. If you can feel gratefulness fr the small things around you, start there. Living with this Intention to notice the good things in life.
